Last Blog of the Year?!

Hello Everyone

Here we go again with yet another blog!

There have been more developments since last night …

Positive Cases

We heard last night and this morning of three new positive cases of COVID-19 among the school’s pupils. These are results of tests taken at the end of last week and are part of the backlog that has been reported on the news. Here is an explanation of the situation with the three cases:

Pupil 1

We heard last night of this new positive case of COVID-19 among a year 11 pupil. We have identified pupils who have been in the same lessons as the pupil, in registration and socialising during lunchtimes and break times last Thursday and Friday. In order to do this we have studied the seating plan of each relevant classroom and have measured the necessary points in each class to determine who was within the 2m radius and has to self-isolate. We have spent hours today measuring to identify the individuals who must self-isolate. Everyone from year 11 who needs to self-isolate has been informed via a Teachers2Parents text message this morning. If you have not received a message, then your child does not need to self isolate.

Pupil 2

We heard this morning of a new positive case of COVID-19 among another year 11 pupil. She was tested because she had symptoms after another family member tested positive. The pupil was already self-isolating because of this. This means that she hasn’t been to school for a while, so no-one else at school needs to be self-isolate.

Pupil 3

We also heard this morning that a year 10 pupil has tested positive for COVID-19. She was also tested because she had symptoms after another family member had tested positive. The pupil was already self-isolating because of this. This means that she hasn’t been to school for a while, so no-one else at school needs to be self-isolate.

The authorities all agree that in the case of pupils 2 and 3, no-one else needs to self-isolate. Again, we have followed the Track and Trace guidelines carefully and have co-operated with the county and the experts at Public Health Wales to protect the whole Bro Edern family.

Remember to be aware of the symptoms, and if anyone in the home has symptoms, remember that everyone in your house needs to self-isolate until a negative test or medical advice has been received.

Merry Christmas from Bro Edern Staff

The staff Christmas performance has now appeared on YouTube. It is testament to the endurance of Bro Edern staff that they had the energy to film this at the end of such a long term. I had no choice – Miss Land has been pestering me for weeks to sing along with Bryn Terfel, and has even contacted with the great man himself, as you can see in the video. And here at last, parents can see my “2m Stick of Doom” as it’s called in school – this is the stick I use to measure the 2m radius and work out which pupils need to self-isolate.

Enjoy!

Best wishes over Christmas
