Mae Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru wedi cael sawl trafodaeth gyda fi neithiwr ac maen nhw’n hyderus nad oes angen i unrhyw ddisgybl nac aelod o staff arall beidio â mynychu’r ysgol. Diolch o galon i rieni 7 Hafren 2 am eich cydweithrediad parod wrth gydymffurfio gyda gofynion Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru ar fyr rybudd yn hwyr neithiwr.

Mae gweithdrefau’r ysgol o ran mwgwd, system un ffordd, treniadau glanhau a diheintio i gyd yn eu lle ers cyn dechrau’r tymor ac yn cydfynd gyda’r canllawiau a gyhoeddwyd.

Mae Cyngor Caerdydd wedi rhoi gwybod i’r wasg, sydd yn golygu y bydd y stori’n ymddangos yn y cyfryngau’n fuan iawn. Dyma gopi o’r datganiad swyddogol i’r wasg:

Gofyn i ddisgyblion yn Ysgol Bro Edern hunan-ynysu yn dilyn cadarnhad o achos COVID

Gofynnwyd i 30 o ddisgyblion yn Ysgol Bro Edern hunan-ynysu am 14 diwrnod ar ôl cadarnhau achos COVID-19 yn yr ysgol ddydd Sul (6 Medi).

Mae’r disgyblion Blwyddyn 7 wedi’u nodi fel cysylltiadau ag achos COVID-19 a gadarnhawyd yn yr ysgol a gofynnwyd iddynt aros gartref er mwyn lleihau lledaeniad posibl y firws i deulu, ffrindiau a’r gymuned ehangach.

Sicrhawyd fod y rhannau o’r ysgol a ddefnyddiwyd gan y dosbarth wedi eu glanhau yn drylwyr.

Dywedodd y Pennaeth, Mr Iwan Pritchard: “Yn dilyn y cadarnhad bod disgybl yn yr ysgol wedi profi’n bositif am COVID-19 gwnaethom weithredu cyn gynted â phosibl, ar y cyd ag Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru i gysylltu â phob disgybl yn swigen dosbarth y disgybl. Fel rhagofal, mae glanhau ychwanegol, ar ben y drefn lanhau ddyddiol sydd gennym ar waith, hefyd wedi’i gwblhau.

“Oherwydd y gweithdrefnau sydd gennym ar waith, gan gyfyngu ar gyswllt rhwng gwahanol ddosbarthiadau a chofnodi cynlluniau seddi pob gwers, rydym wedi gallu cyfyngu ar nifer y disgyblion sydd angen hunan-ynysu ac nid oes angen i rieni na disgyblion na chysylltwyd gyda hwy, i hunan-ynysu neu i boeni’n ormodol.”

“Ar ôl cadw at y rheol pellter cymdeithasol 2 fetr, neu wisgo gorchudd wyneb os nad yw hyn wedi bod yn bosibl, nid oes angen i unrhyw aelod o staff yr ysgol hunan-ynysu.”

“Bydd staff yr ysgol yn parhau i fod yn wyliadwrus o unrhyw ddisgyblion sy’n arddangos symptomau ac yn cymryd camau priodol os ydynt yn amau o bosibl y gallai disgybl fod â COVID-19.”

Cysylltwyd â rhieni pob disgybl a nodwyd fel cysylltiadau trwy lythyr a neges destun nos Sul.

Dywedodd yr Aelod Cabinet dros Addysg, y Cynghorydd Sarah Merry: “Mae diogelwch disgyblion yn ein hysgolion o’r pwys mwyaf ac mae gweithdrefnau ar waith i sicrhau eu bod mor ddiogel â phosibl, ond mae hyn yn ein hatgoffa’n glir nad yw Covid-19 wedi diflannu a byddwn yn annog pob rhiant i aros yn wyliadwrus a sicrhau nad yw eu plant yn mynychu’r ysgol os ydyn nhw’n datblygu symtomau.”

____________

Rwy’n deall y bydd rhai ohonoch yn poeni am hyn, ond hoffwn eich atgoffa fod iechyd a lles disgyblion a staff Bro Edern o’r pwysigrwydd mwyaf i ni. Rydyn ni fel ysgol yn gwneud popeth i ddilyn yr holl ganllawiau diweddaraf er mwyn amddiffyn pawb. Mae Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru’n bendant ei bod yn saff i chi anfon eich plant i’r ysgol.

Os oes unrhyw ymholiadau gennych, cysylltwch â’r Pennaeth Blwyddyn. Mae’r holl gyfeiriadau e-bost yn blog yr wythnos diwethaf.

Diolch yn fawr i chi am bob cefnogaeth, fel arfer.

Hello Everyone

A quick message to let you know that a pupil in year 7 has tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The 7 Hafren 2 registration class will now be self-isolating for a fortnight and returning to school on 18 September. Public Health Wales has had several discussions with me over the weekend about school procedures and they are confident than no further pupils nor staff need to stay away from school. Thanks very much to 7 Hafren 2 parents for your co-operation in following the Public Health Wales requirements late last night, at such short notice.

The school procedures in terms of mask, one way system, cleaning and sanitising arrangements are all in place since before the beginning of term and all correspond to the published guidelines.

Cardiff Council has written a press release, which means that the story will appear in the media shortly. Here’s a copy of the official press release:

Pupils at Ysgol Bro Edern asked to self-isolate as Covid case confirmed

30 pupils at Ysgol Bro Edern have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days following the confirmation of a Covid-19 case at the school on Sunday (6th September).

The Year 7 pupils have been identified as contacts of a confirmed Covid-19 case at the school and have been asked to remain at home in order to reduce the possible spread of the virus to family, friends and the wider community.

An enhanced clean has been carried out of areas of the school used by the class.

Headteacher, Mr Iwan Pritchard, said: “Following the confirmation that a pupil at the school has tested positive for Covid-19 we acted as quickly as possible, in conjunction with Public Health Wales to contact all pupils within the pupil’s class bubble. As a precaution, additional cleaning, on top of the daily cleansing regime we have in place, has also been completed.

“Due to the procedures we have in place, restricting contact between different classes and logging seating plans of all lessons, we have been able to limit the numbers of pupils needing to self-isolate and there is no need for parents or pupils that have not been contacted, to self-isolate or be unduly concerned.”

“Having kept to the 2 metre social distancing rule, or worn a face covering if this hasn’t been possible, no school staff need to self-isolate.”

“Staff at the school will continue to be vigilant of any pupils displaying symptoms and take appropriate action if they suspect a pupil could potentially have Covid-19.”

The parents of all pupils identified as contacts were contacted by letter and text message on Sunday evening.

Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Sarah Merry said: “The safety of pupils in our schools is of the upmost importance and procedures are in place to ensure they are as protected as possible, but this is a clear reminder that Covid-19 hasn’t gone away and I would urge all parents to remain alert and ensure that their children do not attend school if they develop symptoms.”

__________

I understand that many of you will find this latest development worrying, but I would like to assure you that the health and wellbeing of all Bro Edern pupils and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We as a school have done everything possible to follow all the latest guidelines in order to protect everyone. Public Health Wales is clear that it is safe for you to continue sending your children to school.

If you have any queries, please contact the Head of Year. All e-mail addresses were in last week’s blog.

Thank you to you all, as usual, for all your support.

Best wishes

Iwan Pritchard
